Car backfires, please help!
Car backfires, please help!
Hey guys,
After about 14 straight hours of playing with stuff and resetting the computer I finally got my car to start. It starts really rough, like its just turning over, but eventually it fires right up. Anyways when it has started it runs great. Normal rpm idle, and it drives fine with one exception. If you push hard/fast on the gas pedal the car bogs down and will backfire(sometimes die) if you dont let off the acceleration right quick. I drove it all over town, for about 2 hours straight and it didnt bog down or back fire once as long as I eased into pushing the pedal down. You so much as tap on it fast and it will back fire like there is no tomorrow. It is backfiring through the intakes too. If it backfires and dies then it takes for EVER cranking on the engine to start back up again. I also notice the oil level is very high, and smells like gas something horrible. I have received various error codes. 54-33 if the car doesnt actually start, and 23 if it dies. Could this be the result of the TPS or is it a timing issue?
Help is greatly appreciated
