Can my stock diff can keep up with my new engine???

Just plan to buy a 350 with 330 hp and 380 lbs of torque, is my '84 Z28 diff can take it?

It's a 7.5'' 10 Bolt with 3.23 gears

Tanks

itll hold up for a while , until you get it to hook up at the track

but under normal driving conditions without beating the living hell out of it on a daily basis , you should be ok for a little while

You won't be making a enough Power to the rearwheels to dump that 10-bolt, unless you do something DUMB.

That 3:37 9 1/2-bolt rear may work for you.

Maybe you should look at this page:

http://www.ws6transam.org/10bolt.html

The OEM 10-bolt can be made to support 400 HP, and will enable most F-cars to pass into the 11's with reliability, when built properly.

There are many, many fourth-gen cars running into the 11's without blown-up axles. They have the very same 10-bolt as you do, but with a higher spline count on the axle, and a 7.625 ring gear.

Your axle housing can bolt in a 7.625 gear with no changes. When you add a TA stud girdle, and some 28 spline axles, your rear should handle the power of your 350 H.O. just fine.

When you get to the 400 RWHP level, then you need to begin to worry about the 10-bolt. What seems to shatter the axle is the combination of manual transmission, suspension changes, and slicks. Unless you are cutting 1.6x second 60-footers, you should be able to make your axle survive.

the higher spline count = more strength.

but im pushin around 380hp and 518 rw tq through the stock rear end with 115,000 miles on it on nitrous, with 392 ft lbs torque and 225 rwhp every day without any trouble, the stock rears can hold u into the high 11's without a problem, your engine isnt enough to toast the stock rear, there's people running mid 11's all season long on 7.5" 10 bolt's - unless ure running slicks, or 11.7 or quicker, don't worry too much.

I pull 1.63 60ft times with a 3.23 gear and a girdle&solid crush sleve. and plan to keep the 60's comming down in the 1.4X dont know if the rear will take that or not.
