Question Can my motor take it?

I might be acquiring an ATI Procharger with 9 psi,and a stealth ram intake. A graduation present. But I have a stock bottom end and 120,000 miles. My mods are in my sig let me know what you guys think and what experience you have with these products?

Thanks alot,
James

I think it will hold up for a while. I think you'd be much better off by just rebuilding it/beefing it up now instead of waiting for it to go. Could save you some money.

Maybe. L98 shortblocks regularly go well into the 11's without too much trouble. However, with a ProCharger pushing 9psi, you're asking for problems down the road.

I'd worry about your 10 bolt rear more than the shortblock though

It would work well but remember you're going to have to get another chip burned.

I would say go for it if u can.

As far as the 10 bolt holding up.... If you pre-load the suspension on launch and don't go around doing stupid abusive things to it it should hold up for a while.

Preload is when you hold the brakes and give it just enough throttle to load the suspension. The light comes down, you let off the brake, let it roll a few feet and roll into the gas. You won't break parts that way.

Ok guys thanks alot for your help. When I leave at the track I bring the revs up to 2,200 is where it starts to pull away bc of the converter. But I cant hook up anyway. On drag radials I only cut a 1.77 60' and that is letting the break out slower and not mashing on the throttle.
But Now I have heard that the Vortech makes more power than the ATI, but I have allways heard the opposite untill today What do you guys think???

I'm not too familiar with superchargers, but I know most places swear by AIT prochargers, because they are a much better quality product and I believe their packages are a little better as far as innercoolers go and such, like i said, I don't know much personally, but i know a few reputable race shops that rank ATI number 1.

I agree with you here Mike and that is something I would post but for some reason it just popped into my head that with an auto trans...The rear is always preloaded

I say go for it with that ProCharger setup and StealthRam! Be sure to keep the tuning on the "Safe" side and everything should work great. Goodluck

What do you mean the safe side? I was thinking about getting it dyno tuned but I heard that it wasnt worth the money bc the procharger is completely compatable.

If you have a dyno available to you, by all means dyno it just to be safe. Make sure that the a/f ratio is within range and then too you can learn more about your engines power curve. Doing this will help you determine the stall speed, rear gear ratio, and other variables (ignition timing, fuel pressure, PROM mapping, etc.)

You can always assume things are safe, but if it were to run into problems?.... $100 or less for a dyno pull is worth the investment.
