Can I remove my heater core?

My car will no longer be driven in the winter, it's going to be a summer car only. I currently have the dash off while I'm re-doing the entire enterior.

My question is, can I safely remove the heater core? My cars cooling system doesn't require it, correct?

that is correct just make sure that you loop the two hoses together with a flush tee or something like it.

you can remove it, but its really not worth it unless its not working. it really doesn't weigh to much and you have to take your entire dash apart to get to it.

Well, I do actually have the entire dash off right now since I'm re-doing the interior.

The blower for the AC was taken out of the car, and I'm pretty sure that's the same blower that works for the heater, so it won't work anymore anyway

No a heater core does not have anything to do with cooling your car down, GM used to offer heater delete as an option on some cars.

If your going to take the heater core out, then why bother looping the hoses together? Do away with all the heater hose, and related crap, and then just plug the hole in the waterpump and intake. It will make it a lot cleaner under the hood,

YOU HAVE TO LOOP THE HOSES OR YOUR CARS COOLING SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY AND MAY CAUSE OVERHEATING.I KNOW THIS.......

No you don't. Just drill 2 small (1/4" or so) holes in the flange around your thermostat to keep it from hydro-locking and you'll be fine. You're better off taking the hoses completely out because that way there's less stuff to leak, and it cleans the engine bay up a bit.
