can a 305 be built like a 350?

can a 305 be built like a 350?

are the the same block with smaller pistons i built my 350 and made it a 383 stroker the question im asking is can i build my 305 to a 383 stroker also?

no
305 is only a 3.75 bore....can't be bored out to what you need....so find a 350 block

There is alot more to it than that.

What is your long term goal as far as power? what do you want out of the car?

305 is usually stroked to a 335.

Dont try stroking the 305 to 335 as it'll cost you only a hundred dollars less than getting yourself a bare 350 block and building a 383. $100 for another FIFTY cubic inches and about SEVENTY (or more) horsepower is a very, very cheap dollar per horsepower ratio.

I suggest you sell your running 305 for a hundred bucks, then get to work on building the 383. In actuality, the cheapest way to get going is to purchase a used 383, and giving it a new set of rings, a hone job, and a port & polish of the cylinder heads.

I totally agree I was just saying what people stroked the 305's to. 350 is always a

better choice.

it's funny... parts to keep a 305 tpi tuned... up and running are expensive but you can buy a good running 305 tpi for less then $500.
