Camaros SUCK!!!

Ok now that I got all you attention could somebody check my vin or tell me where to go so I can check it. My vin is 1G1FP87F6GL194467. Also has anyone got there camaro repainted? Not a different color just repainted to make it look better? If so how much did it cost? Also one more quick question, Will my TPI fit on pretty much ANY 350 motor? And will any 350 bolt up to my 700 Tranny? Thanks.

tpi will only bolt up to 86 and newer heads. go 2 thirdgen.org to look up the vin. not all 350s will bolt up to the 7r4 with out an adapter.

actually, if you get a 85 TPI F-body base, it has the old intake bolt angle, and if the 700R4 had a smallblock in front of it, all SBC's will bolt to it, as long as the correct flywheel is used(torque convertor pattern)

Re: Camaros SUCK!!!

don't you have to worry about 1 piece and 2 piece rear main seals when matching trannys?

and not ALL sbc will bolt up....an LS1 wont i don't think

Re: Camaros SUCK!!!

When matching up the tranny any SBC will bolt to the 700 R4 (except the LS1) the difference is the flexplate if its a 2 peice get a 53 tooth flexplate for a 2 peice rear seal block , if its 1 peice use a 1 peice rear seal 53 toothe flexplate.

The heads are the difference between the newer and older TPIs the 85 and 86 TPIs had a different angle to the bolts on the center 4 bolts on the intake(2 on each side) so the intakes had to match up to this, the simple fix is to redrill the center holes at the angle to match the heads youre using. Be warned though that unless you use silicone on these bolts they will leak oil.

Re: Camaros SUCK!!!

gen1 smallblock chevys changed their heads in 87, 86 was the last year with the perimeter bolt vave covers, 87 was the first for centerbolt, due to the different head design,

gen 1 small block is from 55 till 92 when the gen 2 came out (lt1)

same essential bolt pattern for bellhousing, reverse flow cooling, small runners on tuned port system and funky ignition system

97 came gen 3 ls1, which has 6 bolt mains i beleive, same reverseflow cooling, sequential fuel injection, distriutorless ignition, aluminum block (except truck engines) etc etc

700rf trans, provided it has the bellhousing to fit a gen 1 smallblock chevy, will then fit any smallblock chevy gen1 or gen2

a tpi system from an 86 or older engine can fit an 87 or above engine if u redrill the holes at the proper angle (or was it the other way around?)

thats as much as i know, if any of it is correct
