Cam Help.....

I have a 30 over 350 w/ 10:1 forged flat tops and will probably be using a 100 shot of N20. What cams are you guys using and what is the rest of your set up? I'm also going to use GMPP 1.6 RRs and GMPP Hyd roller lifters. So far, I'm thinking Hotcam or ZZ9 maybe.

Re: Cam Help.....

heads?FI or carb?usage?gears?
Hotcam/zz9 10:1,xx heads?, 350 CARB-- RPM airgap or Stealth with 650 DP or 700DP if you want to upgrade later[vac sec is only more streetable if you cant tune]
FI MANIFOLD
Hotcam/zz9,10:1 350,xx heads,Fuel Injection
budget-ported manifold,ported base,hiflo or stock runners
$$-stealthram or superram-guys are getting good results w/HSR and its cheaper but used SR are cheap and either manifold will make bitchin power if cam is right for it.
--not enough cam/heads for a miniram.
--Converted LT1 intake.seems like half the 3d gen guys name their first kid after this swap, and the other half despise it.I have no experience with it so ill stay out of it.

so once you provide manifold choice heads intake rpm range exhaust, i would be happy to provide my somewhat experienced .02 on cam recs.

Re: Cam Help.....

call Comp cams and talk to their tech line.

they wil ask you what your application is and what your trying to do w/ it...etc,you will probably want a nitrous specific cam (no valve overlap).

Re: Cam Help.....

Eh, Comp Cams tech line is hit or miss as far as getting good information goes. Something in the 220-230 range on a 114 LSA would work well with your setup. Will also depend on how big of a stall you plan on running. A cam like this would work well with a 2800 - 3000ish stall since you will be spraying the car.

Re: Cam Help.....

I'll have about a 3000 stall with a rebuilt 700-R4. 4.10 gears. I'm hopefully going to have a HSR, as long as the guy's on the up n up. Hope this helps.

Re: Cam Help.....

above cam sounds good for HSR,3k stall 4.10s.can your heads keep up?I'm opening a can of worms by saying i dont widen lsa up for NOS,but thats on mild shots so far 200 or so.for a 100 shot i would tailor the cam for NA and not worry about n20 perf.youre gonna get greedy and put in a 150 at least once, but its still not a big deal. Some more exhaust[split pattern cam] wouldnt hurt anyway as your exhaust isnt going to be optimized i assume.I like comp and crower from experience, have heard great things about cammotion, and also that comps tech line is hit or miss.
Remember the lower you drop the overlap and raise duration, the harder itll be to tune.ive got a girl cam with 110 lsa and its a little harder to tune idle and part throttle, but worth it IMO.i would look at the catalogs for something in the area of 230-240,.5-.57 lift range, and a lsa 110-112.This will put you in the hot street 6-6500 range provided your heads can flow for it.but wont stress springs or good hyd lifters[if used??]
Call a few reps and ask a few knowledgeable dudes, you should end up with a general consensus from there.
Im not a pro at all so i hesitate to recommend a specific grind.and many pros dont like to for free for obvious reseons.

some guy here's sig is "welcome to the internet, where everyone's a mechanic..." i find those good words of caution.good luck with your project.
