Cam button

i have a 383 stroker and i am wondering do i need to use a cam button

the camshaft i am using is a LT4 Hot Cam with .525/.525 lift with 1.6 roller rockers

You do if you don't have a thrust plate behind the timing gear. Is this a late model block?
