Building A Bad A$$ Motor, Let me know what you think!!!
First off I have a 87 IROC-Z Camaro that I'm building a new motor for, please read this and let me know what you think of the parts that I purchased and if you have any other suggestions. The reason for this new motor is because i cracked the old (less then 2,000 miles on it) motor about 8 inches on the driver side of the block right underneath the head.
The new motor consists of a ZZ4 short block, LT4 hot cam kit, stock heads but they are ported and have the LT4 springs, Holley Stealth Ram, Accel 24 pound injectors, a BBK twin 52 mm throttle body, Aluminum radiator, 160 degree thermostat and fanswitch, A Jacobs Pro Street ignition, a set of headmen headers, custom shift kit and 373 gears, Borla exhaust (3 inch from the headers back), 2,500 rpm stall converter, a custom chip is being burnt and of course a set of sub frame connectors.
Do you think that this is a good set up and how much horse do you think that I will be pushing? Please let me know what you think and the more responses that I get the better i will feel, thanx for your time and your remarks!!!!

Re: What do you think of my new motor, please read this and let me know
Is there any one that has installed a Holley Stealth Ram on a Camaro yet, I'm having some problems getting mine in, the first one is the hood clearence, the way the fuel rails are, and the angle middle bolts to bolt it to the center bolt heads. If any one can give me some advice on helping me get around this stuff please let me know, Thanks alot.
I like the sound of the setup except for the heads unless they are the stock aluminum heads found on some TPI cars. If they aren't the aluminum heads I would say if you are building your enitre motor get a set of quality aluminum heads. Sounds like a solid car that could go high 12's with good traction. Good luck and keep us informed.
My car has the iron heads and you are not the first person to tell me that I need a set of good heads either, lol. My heads are being ported and polished as we speak and after that they are going to the engine shop to be machined to have the roller rockers and the bigger valves put in, the manley valves are 2.00/1.600 in size, i tried to put enough money together but it is going to have to wait for over the winter to have the set of AFR heads that I want, like any other person I aslo have a budget. So I'm trying to save myself by having the valves put in, thanks for the input.
dude iron L98 heads can be ported to support 500 horsepower...
ill dig up a link on it, they flowed about 20 cfm more then 190 afr's
that stealth ram and LT4 intakes are pretty similar...and that LT4 hotcam will love it...
id say high 300's would be a bit conservative...
when you talk to your machine shop buddy get the flow number from him...
depending on ythe quality of the port job, that combo has 450 hp all over it...again on the extent of the port job...
i know a guy with a stealth ram , very similar car to the HC and afr 190's that runs basement 12's..with 2.30 60 ft's...
it ALL comes down to the port job
even if he only did some bowl work and a little port matching youd be around 350
just for comparo
my motor is
ported LT4 heads..flow about what the 210 afr's flow with a 195 runner so there great for big hp and monster torque
a cam a little hotter then the HC
and an LT4 intake..
i dynoed at 487 hp and 496 ft pounds....with mufflers...open it was over 500
