Broken thermostat bolt stuck in head

Red face Broken thermostat bolt stuck in head

anyone have any suggestions on how to get it out? there is about 1/4 - 1/2 inch of the bolt sticking up still...

when you say thermostat housing bolt stuck in head, you mean in the intake right? anyways, you will need to drill into the bolt. then retap the hole. you may need to get a helicoil kit for it.

Drilling and heli-coiling would be alast resort. If you have something to work with use it!! Get some TIGHT vice grips on that thing and turn!! Vice grips rule so damn much it isn't even funny Goodluck!

I have had a similar problem. Soak the broken bolt with liquid wrench. I used a stud remover, but with only 1/2 inch of bolt remaining I would go with vice grips. First try tightening the bolt slightly, then work it back and forth. When you replace the bolt use anti-seize on the threads of the new bolt.
