Boring a 355-cost/size?

Im going to have my 355 bored out, what did you guys pay for yours? Also, whats the biggest I can go? I was hoping for 396, otherwise I'll just end up buying a 400 block. Thanks

If your motor is already a 355 it has been bored 0.030". Depending on exactly what you have in mind, you can bore it out a bit further, but many people consider the max for hi-po use 0.030-0.040" anyway. Some people bore production blocks 0.060" over, but I wouldn't. Boring, even out to 0.060", will only increase your displacement to 360ci.

Do you mean building a stroker?

General engine buildup should be posted in a Gen Spacific Engine Tech Forum. Transfering to 3rd Gen Tech.

You can make some big displacment small blocks starting with the 350. But I think 383 is probably ideal unless you want to go pretty far out on the price/performance curve. Lots of parts available for a 383 and nothing much is required to get the 3.75" stroke crank to fit. Cost depends on what you building. A very different rotating assy is needed for mild street motor versus a high rpm screamer or a blown/juiced combo.
