BORG WARNER tranny any good?

i wanna swap a 350 into my 87 maro, but im trying to figure out wheater my tranny will be able to handle it.. when i looked under the car, the tranny had "BORG WARNER" on it... i ccouldnt find any other markings to find out what EXACTLY it is and what it can handle... anybody know where to look for more details? or any other info?

its a 5spd + reverse

my shop teacher (mechanic for 20 some years) that also races, said it should be fine with a 350.. but some other people tell me it would wreck my tranny? i dont plan on racing, dumping the clutch.. only for street use, with maybe some fun with roll on and WOT

plz help

thanks

T5s are iffy. Some people have great luck with them, some people go through 4 a year. If you don't get too stiff a clutch, and you stick with street tires that won't bite too hard, you should be fine. If you're planning on building a pretty stout engine you'll need something beefier. The nice thing about T5s is that even if you do blow it up, you can get them out of junkyards or off ebay for like $200. And they're easy to pull out and replace.

Seeing as how I have a T-5, I'll ask a question myself. Is it worth rebuildin a T-5 once its blown, only having it rebuilt stronger?
