Bolting a 6-speed to a 350tpi

As the title says, I recently bought a 6-speed tranny to put behind my 89 350tpi and was wondering who's done it and where to get information on some sort of translator for the Vehicle Speed Sensor. Also what kind of flywheel do I need? Thanks in advance....

where did you get the tranny? did you get all of the pedals, clutch master and slave cylinders, tranny mount, tranny crossmember, etc?

I thought about swapping a t-5 (eventually a t-56) into my 85 Z, until I looked at the pedal setup. 350 TPI setup was an automatic stock, so you will have to do a lot of work to get the pedals in and aligned correctly. There are a bunch of parts that are specifically for this conversion (I'm pretty sure Spohn makes at least some of the stuff you will need). http://www.spohn.net/category.cfm?categoryid=1024

It is a doable project, just be ready for some knuckle scraping and tight quarters once it comes time for the pedals and clutch setups. Good luck

Here's the skinny....

The transmission is out of a 1995 Z28. I have a 1984 Pontiac Grand Prix that I put the 350tpi, 700r4, dash, center console and full wiring harness into. Anyway I have to order the pedals special since G-bodies didn't come factory with a manual transmission. I plan to just order a new slave cylinder and the crossmember will have to be custom. I got the tranny, bellhousing, tranny mount, clutch setup, and shifter. I will probably need some kind of flywheel as well.

auto to stick swap is easy, hardest part is cutting the hole for the clutch master, as long as you got another stick car to measure off of, you are fine

G bodirs did not come with manuals, but A bodies did in 78-79. If you can find a car with the parts still in it, the swap is mindless. I use to have all of the pictures and part #. None of the parts are available any longer at a dealer, but if you know someone in a parts department, they may print out the illustration.

Dan Burk (ws6transam) has a T56 in his '84 WS6. Send him a PM -- he may have some good info for you.

Re: Bolting a 6-speed to a 350tpi

If a Monte Carlo is a G-Body then they most certainly came with a manual. A friend of mine had an '84(?) that originally came with a 3-speed that he eventually put a 4-speed in before he sold it. Do a google on G-body pedal setups and I'm sure you'll find plenty of people that sell them. My brother has an '86 Grand Prix 2+2 that he wanted to put a 6-speed in and found the pedals somewhere online. You'll find them very easily. If he could do it, I'm sure you can.
