been looking at some other cars on the net and its confusing about which cars came with the painted headlight pockets?

anyone know what years came with them and if my car should have black or painted headlight pockets?

 

I have never seen a berlinetta with painted pockets. I know for a fact that all 85-87 irocs and Z28's came with painted pockets, as well as all 88-90 irocs. Those that didn;t were sport coupes and RS's for the most part. I have seen some irocs w/o it, but would venture to guess it was a repaint and they failed to do this. Personally I think it makes the whole front end light up, and really sets the car off.

The black headlight pockets came standard on all 1982-1992 Z28s and IROCs. They were never offered on any of the Berlinettas or LTs. The Sport Coupes got them one year only, in 1986. The RS only got them for one year, in 1988.

The cars that did not come with black headlight pockets were either body colored or painted with an accent color, like the Berlinetta.

When I had my car repainted, I did not black out the headlight pockets. After putting everything back onto the car that was taken off from the paint job, I didn't like the look of the front end. So I had the pockets blacked out again. Looks much better IMO!

It's funny that many of you guys say that the 85 Z28's came w/ black headlight pockets; my 85 has the car-colored red pockets

 

My teal '91 RS came with black pockets.

 

My Black 91 RS came with black headlight pockets.

 

my black 87 iroc is, well black

 

^That's strange; I would have thought your IROC pockets would have been body-colored
