With a tow rope there would be no way of stopping the car from hitting the car towing it. Im pretty sure its illegal to tow a car from chains or rope, u have to use a towbar. A trailer would be the cheapest way to do it since its only like 50 to rent it. With a flatbed its usually 20 dollars to hook and like 2 bux a mile wich would rape you on money. Looks like you have to go with a trailer.

But if you insist on towing it--We rented a U-Haul trailer for the GTA. Worked great, up to speeds around 75. Cost ~$50 Pulled real nice.

You could probable set a world record if you used a tow rope for a 150 miles.

If you every have to call a tow truck make sure you ask for a flat bed (perferable the longest one they have).

If you tow it any long distance on all 4's, make sure it's running. If you don't have the tranny pumping fluid lube to the clutches, you'll burn them up!...
If you pick up the rear, you'll drag the front off and tear up the ground effects.
For a short haul i'd get a flat bed tow truck...

I'd go for the flatbed. Seen too many problems with the front wheels up and also with the rear wheels up.

Flat beds are the only way to go with a thirdgen. However some flatbeds dont have a long enuff bed for our car. For example my buddy brian blew his tranny while we were by my other buddies house. We called a flat bed from this house. The tow truck driver was an idiot and hooked it from the front and pulled it up onto the truck and the chains got caught in between the ramp and the ground effects. The crackdlealer driver just kept pulling it up the ramp. By the time we got out of the house he had it on the bed but he ripped the whole front and pretended to not notice. It was a HUGE hassle but he got it repaired courtesy the shop. Make sure when u call they know what kind of car u have and tell them the ground clearance. They said they had the right truck for lower cars but didnt know. Make sure you tell them when u call. Good luck.

Maybe I should have emphasized the most important point. I don't care how cold it is, don't do it at night so you can WATCH WHAT THEY ARE DOING .
