Best street/strip clutch?

I was looking at a SPEC stage 3 clutch for my iroc...i heard that spec clutches arent always what they are said to be. a lot of accounts of failures and such. I would like to get an opinion on what is the best street/strip clutch on the market right now. I've also heard that RAM clutches are exceptional. I would like to get a clutch that can be beat on the strip but also be able to use the car on the street.

IMHO
Alot of people like the Dual Frictions, they have a stock pedal feel. Ram is really coming along with their quality and clamping force. Spec has nice stuff too. The Stage 3 is very dependable under higher power levels, but chatters alot if it is the old 3 puck design. I have a six puck for sale on this board that was used with a TKO before I bought my LT1. I bought a Stage 3+ for that too. Then if you are made of $$$ the McLeod Street Twin is the ticket. Good luck!

The McLeod regular clutch is very good. Just stay away from Centerforce, they're more hype than bite.

Re: Best street/strip clutch?

I have heard of people having problems with the spec stage 3...wear problems. I read a post where the stage 3 clutch was professionally installed and the clutch was worn out after 3,000 miles. SPEC told him that the warranty on thier clutches is only 120 days... not a warranty based on how many miles are put on the clutch before it is found to be defective. I was looking at a 6 puck SPEC stage 3 clutch. I saw that you were selling your stage 3 clutch and a little weary about buying a used clutch, how many miles were put on it while it was used with the tko transmission.
