You can try my quick and dirty method:
Get brakes, spindle, etc., out of the way. With the arm accesable, place something solid under the a-arm. I like to use a screw or floor jack positioned so that it is out of the way of the bottom of the ball joint.
Obtain a piece of pipe that will fit over the stud of the ball joint, but with an outside diameter smaller than the hole the ball joint is pressed into.
Obtain a large hammer. Ball peen is too small, sledge is ok if you have a pal to help. If you lower the arm just right, the pipe on the joint will angle outside the fender allowing you to hammer that puppy dog right out. WEAR EYE PROTECTION!
To put in the new one, make sure grease fitting is out, then put your solid object under joint and press it up into arm. You'll probably have to whack down on the arm a little to get it to pop in. I like to clean up any rust/junk with a round file from the hole before attempting to pop in new one.
Treat the spring with extreme care.
