BAD overheat

Here is the deal fellas. I just finished putting my amp and subs into my RS and **** today. So i fire her and im letting her idle while me and all my buddies sit around and enjoy the new system. We go over to look at my buddies amp real quick and my other buddy screams and says holy **** your car is smoking. She was in idle, no reving at all, for about 20 mins tops. I shut her off right away and popped the hood. The water in the radiator overflow was boiling like crazy. My temp gauge was well past 260 to where it couldnt go any farther. The problem is the fan isnt turning on. I checked the fan fuse and its fine. I just drove her about 50 miles yeterday and she was great. Wats my problem.
I was thinking about just putting in a manual fan switch anyways but its poitless since its not a racecar yet.

Sensor isn't working or the relay is bad.
Mine don't come on either so I wired up two switches to the relays so I can turn each one on and off at will.
I run the primary fan on all the time.

It should be cool enough to run the car without the fans. Something else is wrong.

Uh, not when it's just sitting there.
Mine did the same thing, sat there idling and it almost hit 260.
With the 160stat and the primary fan on, the temp stays at 160-170.

i keep a spare fan relay in my center console cause that fan always gave me problems 2, try taking it of cleaning the contacts and using new contact grease, should be good till you buy another one, if it isnt that the temp sensor is bad, you may want to thing about getting the hypertech fan switch, works great

I had that problem as well. fans wouldnt come on when they were suppost to & over heated my car. So We solved that problem. Hard wired the fans to the battery so everytime I start my car I have fans.

If nothing else drain your coolent system & change hoses/ a few other things put new stuff on fill her up & ya should be fine.

What ambient temp do you have? Last time I did it was in late winter witht he temp around 30-40 an I had not put the fans back in yet or forgot to hook them up, one of the two.
