Post Anyone have any suggestions for Torque arms?

All i hear is Spohn this spohn that, im sure its good and all but they are asking too much and i know "u get what u pay for" blah blah blah .But anyone ever had any good experiences with either Edelbrock,Random Tech. Granatelli,Hotchkis or anyone else? Is an adjustable torque arm necessary? I have a 92' camaro which has the 5.0 engine but V6 springs all around so i guess it lowered a little. Any advice?

As long as you get a torque arm that relocates the mounting point from the tranny to anything fixed is a good one. Don't just buy one the mounts to the same place. The mounting point of the factory design is the weak spot. You really don't need an andjustable one unless you are racing alot.

Spohns stuff is poplular because coupled with the purchase of a tranny crossmember, it is a sweet install, and just functions beuatifully

Thanx

would u happen to know if he has any left? Or are they backordered?

Just checked the site and im interested in the LCA as well. I see he has both adjustable and Sphericol? I understand how they both work, but for Street/strip application Which would u suggest? Im guessing the sphericol is made for hardcore track use only. I figured the torque arm to be over $400.00 but at $390.00 its not that bad. thanx again.

The Spohn stuff is awsome but be advised that the spherical rod ends are noisy. I have them on both the LCA's and TA. around town the LCA's rattle a bit, the TA is only noisy when shifting especially if your shifts hit hard as with a shift kit or power shifting a manual. The quality of the Spohn TA is something to be seen truly a work of art (no I am not on Steve's payroll). My Z seems to have tightened up just from the beefier trans cross member. Handling is much better too.

Does spohn include the tranny crossmember with his TA?

What do you guys think if I extended the stock TA so that it meets the trans crossmember with a rubber mount?

Is the stock TA prone to bending?

Yes, Spohn includes a new cross member and you can also get front and rear driveshaft loops installed, A nice (required) addition if you plan any serious racing.

I wouldn't extend the factory torque arm it can adversely effect handling and braking.

Given enough hp you can bend the factory torque arm. This takes some serious hp though. I realized a nice improvement in handling, and accelerating out of turns

Not as serious power as you would thin k I have seen some 12 second cars break factory torque arms. The SPohn is the way to go his stuff is made wonderfully. His prices are the best as well. For such a quality part the price is dirt cheap.
