ok for one thing you could try using one of the traffic ticket defenders like Points. It'll cost you but if they can beat the ticket or at least get it reduced then you'll have less of a fine.
There are really only a couple of ways of beating a ticket. First of all plead not guilty and get a court date set. Go to court. If the cop doesn't show up or is in another courtroom when you're called up the case is thrown out. If the cop is there, he will want to save court time and try to get you to plea bargain for a lessor charge. Instead of 3 points and $1000 fine for example you may plead guilty to 1 point and a $500 fine. The judge will usually accept the plea bargain. You'll still have a ticket on your record for a few year but the fine won't be as high. Maybe instead of racing you can just get it changed to speeding.
The last thing to do is fight your case. Get all the facts, check the ticket over for mistakes, anything that can go in your favour.
Serves your right for racing on the streets. That's why we have 3 (almost 4, Lethbridge) dragstrips in Alberta.
