Anybody with 236/242 compcam???

Is anybody running this cam? I am in the process of getting my 383 in the car but I still have not decided on a cam. Either the 230/236 or the 236/2424 xe cams from comp. I have AFR 190 heads and a miniram. I also will be using some funny stuff. But I want it to be strong without the juice.
Thanks for any help.

For what it's worth..

I've seen it in a local 383 LT1 car... It's a Callies cranked, Oliver rodded(5.85" i think), Diamond Piston'd motor...Ported LT4 heads/LT4 ported Intake/longtube headers/ATR Catback/Comp Cam 236/242 XE cam kit/Monoblade Throttle body, etc...

Full weight SS Camaro. It made 370HP to the rear wheels on a Mustang Dyno and it traps 120MPH on a good day. I would say it's a nice combination. This mustang dyno typically shows power 20 HP shy of a few local DynoJet 248C dynomometers...Goodluck!

Sorry I don't have any sheets or RPM numbers... All I can tell you is that I would plan on an AFR Hydra-Rev Kit for that top en charge 7000 RPM easy.

The XE comp cam will have steeper ramps then the other one.
I had a xe268 and loved it, now going to a xe274

I have done some searches and I have seen a few people using the 230/236. But from what I have heard the 236/242 would be just as streetable in a 383 as a 230/236 would be in a 350.

Autoroc-does your friend have any vacume problems? Also how does it do when he is not laying in to it??Just daily driving..

I have the XS274 which is the solid flat tappet version in my 350 and it runs great. the roller version should be a little more severe, but you have a 383 instead of a 350. so the results should be similar. my car idles at 12" vac. and goes to around 16 just off idle. there are NO flat spots in acceleration in my car. I have a small stall in mine but it really needs like a 3500 stall. other diff's are that I have a single plane intake and carb. instead of mini ram. but anyway it performs exc. in my car so Id exp. it to do even better w/your combo. I really wanted the afr's too but couldnt afford them so I got used trick flows. Id say def. dont go w/the smaller cam cause I really want to try a bigger cam but cant w/these heads cause of valve clearance issues. oh well, Id guess that eng. should be capable of at least low 12's w/the rest of the package done right. if you have an auto, make sure and get like a 3500 stall. if you have a manual then your golden.
