Any way to test MAF?

I know MAF's are $300+. Is there anyway to test the one I've got? It all looks 100%.

If it's not good, I'd like to go ahead and get the parts ready for a SD setup. If it's good, I'll stick MAF. You know, just don't want to have her ready to fire up and bad MAF.

Usually you test it by unplugging it while the car is idling. If the idle starts acting funny then the MAF is generally ok. If not, then it's probably bad. I'm not sure how you would test it while it's off the car though.

Haha, so go find a MAF car, replace it with mine. Then follow your procedure.

Anyone else know a way?

There's a "tap" test, just tap it with a screwdriver handle while idling, if the engine stumbles, the MAF is bad...Also, the MAF has a fuse, usually on a fenderwell, a red wire and a yellow wire going to a dead end fuse...
What's the original problem??

There isn't an original problem. It, as well as all the electronics/engine are out of the car. I'm building the L98 up

I'd like to changeover to SD but if I can stick MAF, I will. Simply because of $. So if the MAF is bad, instead of laying down $300 for a new one, I'll just round up SD components for ~$100.

To be absolutely sure you would need a scanner and hook it up to another car. That way you can see readings on both MAF units and see if you have about the same readings.

I'd go with a SD setup if I had the choice. A little bit harder to tune, but you don't have a sensor adding more restriction to the incoming air. Plus, you don't have to worry about where you're going to mount the MAF so you can make your cold air intake into just about anything you want.
