Any new best ET's this fall?

I've been widdling mine down this season and last nite 30-40 degree air and shorter tires netted a new best on motor. Tires went from 28" to 26" tall.

Was 11.26 @ 120.5 1.58 60ft

New is 11.05 @ 127+ 1.55 60ft

It was kind of shocking

damn denny. sounds awesome. unfortunatly it'll still be a while before I can come out and play. but I'll have something for ya when I do! or by then you'll be running low 10's N/A. ohwell. glad to see your car moving in the right direction.

whats the basic layout of your combo? didnt you take out the glide? anything else new lately?

thread revival! haha still a glide/4500 stall. I feel so dumb for not running the short tire all this time. Or at least moving to a 4.10/4.30 gear. I had no clue the gear was so important... The plan this winter is port the intake/heads finally and do a custom cam for the situation, which is more nitrous. Rework carb for new combo. So hopefully 50-75hp more N/A and add another 100 worth of hose. Most think that low 9's should be doable. As it sits, it ran a 330' time that would have equalled 9.80's, I just never got to make the full pass after that short trial hit. I think 9.80's + 150 extra HP should run good. Low 9's? mid 9's? 9.0's? I don't know. It will still be driveable though...really want to race True Street again..It was way too much fun.

The combo is off the shelf parts 396 sbc roughly 575hp flywheel. Dart 230's, Super Vic, 11.5:1, ProSystem 780 carb, Comp XR292R, Hooker Longtubes.

Can't wait to see what you get running. I smile knowing that it will have just the right amount of nitrous also...haha

Haha. congrats on the "recent" new best

When we gonna start tearing into that monster Denny? I want to send my heads out too before I start screwing the new engine together. Might get a discount if we send all 4 in at once...prolly not.

Can't wait for spring, I'll probably still be trying to put my car together.

duke, your always "putting your car together" lol. guess I cant talk. I havent touched my car(s) since last year.

Im goin to see what I can get out of my LT1 heads. they got a basic small port on them now. Im goin to see how much flow I can get out of them. I know the pro's can get like 270or 280. but Im not goin to pay for that. when I want to put some good heads on I'll just convert some sbc heads. prolly a step or two bigger cam then what you got, same intake and an 850 carb. th400 with 5000 stall. Im thinking 4.10 gear, or maybe 4.30 and 28" tires. plus the go juice. It'll run right around where your at now. hoping to break into the high 10's N/A, then juice it down to very low 10's. I dont think I'll ever be able to afford to go 9's. alot more safety equipment ya know.

Very cool to hear a plan in the works. Converting heads and doing a carb is awesome.. I agree that it's a hassle with the safety stuff and I'll have to do a full cage but I'll only do it once the car runs the number consistantly and I'm happy with it overall. It can always be cut out.

That thing is screaming for more gear....atleast on motor anyway.

We finally figured out our ignition issue with the '86 and got it running 6.40's consistantly after getting rid of the MSD box that they checked TWICE and said was fine....it wasnt.

That was the shortblock outta my 79 Z28 street car, 10-1 468, we put some factory rect. port heads, a .714/.714 246/252 solid roller (had both laying around), single plane intake and a 1050 dominator.

Putting a motor that actually makes HP next season and try to race a local top sportsman class.

We're a tube chassis car so kinda no comparison to you Auto, but oh well...I didnt know your car was that fast ! Are you on YB.com?

This thread got me thinking about my car again. I got home from work today and pulled the cover off it. Looks like mother nature is taking a bat to it.

Don't get me started on MSD...my Digi6+ is still "brand new" after being tested 3 times. It's a $500+ paperweight on my shelf after numerous shipping and rebuild costs...ANYWAYS!!

We should all wise up and do BBC's. We'll learn sooner or later.

YB.com is kind of Michigan based so of course! I'm AutoRoc on every board.
