Re: Am I in too deep?

Not hard at all. When I put the t56 in that part of it only took a couple minutes with a rotozip. Just make sure your cutting in the right spot.

Re: Am I in too deep?

It's easy to find once the tranny is in the car (without the shift mechanism that is).

It's been over a year since I did the swap but the backside of the hole was right before the tranny tunnel forms a U-shape. Hard to explain now that I try but there's a flatter section of the tranny tunnel and the hole I cut was at the back of this.

Re: Am I in too deep?

All I would be doing is widening out the hole, right?

Well you don't technically widen it. If you car originally car was originally a 5-speed you just extend the hole back a inch or so, so the shifter doesn't hit the tunnel when you're in 2nd, 4th, and 6th.

Well if you have a 5speed car you just extend the hole. If it was an auto car then you have to cut the entire hole because they wasn't one to begin with.

Re: Am I in too deep?

autos still have a shifter that need to go just as far front to back, i believe the auto shifter hole is the exact same as the t-5

Re: Am I in too deep?

The autos only have one circular hole about 1" in diameter near the front of that flat spot (for the shifter cable). Nowhere near big enough for even a t5 shifter. The auto shifter is just a bracket with a cable attached, it doesn't go through the floor.
