I'm sure you can find a good running used v8 for less then the cost of a rebuilt 3.1L. And after you are done installing the new motor, dump the v6 POS in that womans front yard.

What V8 should I get? I need something under or not much more than $2,000. Anything else besides the 350TPI? I realize that I can't find a new engine for that cheap, but something under or not much over 100,000 miles if possible. Also, since I have a V6 auto does that means I need the trans that came with the V8 engine? How much extra would that cost?

I'd say check out hawksthirdgenparts.com and go after one of their used 350 tpi motors, they come with the wiring harness and everthing if im not mistaken. run it till you maybe want to rebuild it in the future. they gaurentee they run and you can get one in the 100k range. Call and ask what the lowest mileage engine is right now they have.

Peep this. http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/inc/sdetail/5660

You will need the transmission and all accesories as well. Start doing your research.... all brackets and such are different....

Another vote for just drive it nicely until you can afford to fix it. Heck, drive it nicely until you can buy another car! Live and learn! Good luck, and let us know what ya do!

You could always threaten her on the phone that you will take her to court unless she takes the car back immediatly. She will probably get scared and take it back, if she refuses then tell her that you are going to the policestation/court office tommrow and she shoudl recieve a phone call/letter soon. If that fails then your ****ed but its always worth a chance to try and scare someone. Even tho in reality you dont have much of a chance but she wont know that. Just tell her you have proof.

Oh yea and dont feel like you are alone. My first car which I had saved up 4500 grand for was a Mustang V6, in which I bought from a friend of my mothers(janitor at the schoool she worked) the car was amazingly clean inside and out and have nice mach 460 stereo I was shocked and bought it right up. Soon I found out the rattling noise I thought was normal was a bad main bearing and the motor was **** (also a v6) ...I know the reason why the guy sold the car was because he was having twins and bought a minivan shortly after w/ the money he recieved from me. Thus it was impossible for him to take the care back(he was poor as hell) so I was stuck w/ this **** engine. I put some thick *** oil in it so it would last a while (15w-40 w/ some of that gear oil) you should try that. After a while I got rid of her and bought my formula, which I prmpty took to a mechanic before I bought from a dealer.....I know you dont want to hear this, but I told you to do that in your thread you made a while back when you were first looking at this car and suspected problems...Anyways your not alone everyone gets ****edover every once in a while.

Oh yeah and the cost of a rebuilt v6 is the same and somtimes even more then the v8 (or at leaste w/ mustangs it was). Go for the v8 so in the long run you will have a better car, sorry that this happened to you. I know how you feel, prolly like ****, youll get throught it.

I told her that towards the end of the conversation, she acted like she wasn't worried about it. I told her that my mechanic will go to court with me and swear on it. Before that I asked if she would take it back but she said no or at least give me a couple of hundred dollars back to help me out. I know she doesn't have any proof that it was rebuilt, because when I bought the car she didn't "have" the reciepts and now all of a sudden she's saying she does. Like I said before, the only reciept she says she has is for the head work, doesn't say anything about a rebuild.
