Aftermarket lower intake?

Aftermarket lower intake?

Is a aftermaket lower intake realy worth the money?

I've got a ported stock intake and I'm about to buy some SLP runners. I'm starting to run out of money and it's either a aftermaket intake or some rear suspension parts.

This is all for a 1LE 92 350 L98 motor

I liked my system but it is part of a system. I had the Superram system with the TB, plenum runners and manifold. I put OEM runner gaskets next to the holes and noticed that the base manifold was a lot larger than the stock holes.

I wouldn't spend the money on the lower unless you are changing cam and doing something to the heads.
I put on an Accel lower with AS&M runners on and gained little if anything at all.

Spend the money on a pair of slicks instead. I'm now running M/T ET Streets and love them.

Yup.... i would do more on suspension and handling. Stock cam and heads aren't going to pull any better.. you might possibly gain a few horse power and lose a little tq. You won't need more air unless you get aftermarket heads and cam.

Wouldn't use TFS heads for a door stop if they sent me a free set.

What size headers and what kind?

TES edelbrock headers, I think 1-3/4 but not sure.

1 3/4 is a little large unless you are planning serious mods

If you add another $100, you can order the Holly Stealth Ram manifold and plenum, and their fuel rails with adjustable pressure regulator all for just under $500 total delivered to your door thru Thunder Racing. You will feel a noticeable improvement and then already have the setup that will be able to handle any head/cam changes in the future......Very simple system to install......

You're absolutely right, i forgot about the fuel line. I used hi-pressure fuel line from the original steel line mounted along the fender. I cut the steel line and flared the end of the line slightly to make a good clamp load for the hose. The 8' of hose cost me $40. I purchased a thermostat neck at Auto Zone that pointed straight towards the center of the vehicle and upwards (about a 60 degree angle) $10. Used the stock radiator hose. Coolant and gaskets I don't add because you need 'em anyway. So, for under $600, you have a system that you can get immediate results from and you are also able to build on top of that without any major issues coming up.....Just for general information, i have edelbrock heads, hot cam kit, 22 lb injectors, 10:1 compression, edelbrock shorty headers, using the stock pcm with a '88 corvette prom, and everything runs and responds very well. I was hoping to get some times in this past weekend but i had trouble with the trans shifting into 3rd gear at WOT, i made two passes and it would not shift into third unless i released the accelerator and then back into it. So the best I was able to muster was 13.50 without having the benefit of keeping it floored all the way. Once i figure out what happened with my valve body i'm confident the times will drop dramatically.

Thanks for the info, I just puchased the Holley intake and fuel rails. I'll have to look at some of those web sites to find the best way to tackel that fuel line.

well my way was the easiest i think. didn't do any cutting or flaring. just connected to the existing stock rubber lines. you can get the fuel line kit form www.supersportperformance.com
