Put some headers and a 3 inch exhaust on and you will be up around 30 hp at the wheels

As far as I know, my stock cam is .390 lift, I'm getting a .460 lift cam...which I'm being told should help me out in the HP department, after that I'm gonna get a Borla catback (adjustable = happy)

i want a 350....but if i can get 300HP at the RW w/o spending an arm and a leg ill be happy with the 305, im being told that i can get 300HP out of my 305....but i don't see how it's gonna be that easier....rebuild with pistons that would increase my compression ratio sounds good, but that takes alot of work.....and i have no idea how much more HP id actually get from a higher compression...and once you do it youve spend a large amount of $$ and can't turn back, the borla is a given, and the cam is simple...

No, I have simply added up the parts, talked with people who have also used them and run several dyno simulations.

Yes, just what I thought another guy making Horsepower
by ADDING up all the parts he put on his engine. And running
" dyno simulation" is almost as good "TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWNLEDGE" . So I guess according to his system he is making
305 HP on that 5.0. So I leave with this question, how much Horsepower is his sound system making???

At a recent dyno, an 89 gta 305 put down 181 rwhp and 295 rwtq. A modded 305 with cam, heads, etc put down 231 rwhp and 281 rwtq.

Well, 87DJP2001 is only familiar with 350s and can't imagine getting his butt kicked by a 5.0.

350s are like Mustangs, everybody's got one. It takes some skill to come up with hp on a 305.

As onefastgta says, 231 hp amounts to well over 300 gross hp at the flywheel. But that sort of understanding seems beyond 87DJP2001's comprehension.

At least 87DJP2001 is getting beyond his childish stage and is now speaking in whole words. Next maybe sentences?

My modded LG4 305 was putting out somewhere around 250RWHP.
I ran a 14.1@99mph with a 2.3 60' time.

I had a Crane Cams PowerMax 2050 Cam, .480/.454 272/28X Advertised.
87 TPI converted to Speed Density, 52mm TB, MSD 6A, Dynomax Headers, Pacesetter 3" Stainless steel exhaust, non-functioning chip(car was in limp home mode for the 6 weeks the motor lasted after the swap, had 155K miles on it when I put all this stuff on it).
I also had a 5 speed, No A/C, no Smog, stock 87 TPI heads, Holley 255lph in-line fuel pump, SLP Dual Cold Air Intake, re-located battery, and I think that is about it.
Here is a pic of my setup before I tore it all apart,

Here is a video of my car as well,

Talking

Hi fellas and fellettes I'm new to your site and have taken particular interest in the 305 tpi cars. I used to have an '89 m5 305. It was pretty good, beautiful red, immaculate. The best I ever got out of it at the track was 14.2 @ 102 w/ 2.3 60 ft. I did the caculation and at the crank I was doing the magical 1 hp per cube # w/out a whole lot of money invested. Lets just say fox stngs were easy game mod for mod and lt1 were easy picking in a lot of cases. You just can't beat ther torque of the tuned port w/ a manual. Oh, I only had 3.08 gears. A shame I never put real tires on it and that crappy t-5 tranny
