! 9th fuel injector
Finally found why my car's blowing smoke when it starts (88 305TPI) - the 9th "cold start" fuel injector has been leaking down and flooding the engine when it starts. Made it really hard to start and with a big cloud of white smoke. I unplugged the 9th injector and it started great for a few days and with little smoke. Now the fuel is starting to seep through the injector and the startup is getting hard and smokey again because the injector is still under pressure. I need a way to block off the opening in the back of the driver's side fuel rail where the plumbing for the 9th injector comes out of, and a way to block off the hole in the lower manifold when I remove the injector. Has anyone ever done this? What parts did you use? The car starts and runs fine without the cold start injector.
Sounds crazy but how about fixing the problem? Sounds like a leaky injector. While you are at it, how are the rest of the injectors? Send them all to a good service facility and they can possibly rehab the injector or sell you a matched one.
You should be able to get the fuel rails off a 89+ car that doesn't have the cold start injector and swap them in.
You will probably have to fab up a block off for the port where the 9th injector currently sits.

We were lazy and we just flattened out the line for the 9th injector. They sell kits to block of the rail and the runner, but I think it's around $60 or so. Not worth it to me.
Oh, I also programmed a chip for the car with an 89 bin file so the CSI and CSS are no longer used.
