i told them i got a 91 firebird t-tops with 400sbc in it with intake #350-5425 4x2 intake. with 2 tbi's from 350 truck engine's adappted to the intake 10.2:1pistons.a built 700r4 tranny from a 1 tom gmc. and a 4.11 rear end gear.
it had a 292 cam in a mild 400sbc with 375hp and 425ftlb torque. i wanted to increase that to about 425hp to 475hp and 525ftlb to 575ftlb torque. they said with that intake and dart head's i should use either a 318* cam or a 328* cam. and reprgram my shift piont's at a higher RPM.
with hoosier p295/50D15's in the rear, and 245/60D15'sin the front. upgraded shock spring's,sturt's,and dual sway bar's. with the 4th gen style ram air hood for it .it's a sweet looking car, especailly with that rounded noise cone and shnazzyfiberglassskirtsandgroundeffect's that the 91and92's have now it looks so 4th gen.now it will have the ***** to back up the tough look it's got.
dual exhaust header's with glasspack'sbolted right to the headers.non of this cat back b.s. single pipe dual tip's crap for this car.it also has the dual dump's like the bandit t/a.
the 3 question's i wanted answerd was
1.which cam ?? 318* or 328*.
2. should i put a 2,200 stall converter???.
3. with it being a t-top car should i put sub frame conector's??.

Those are both huge cam's. I don't think you'll need that much cam for the power levels you want.

You should go alot higher than a 2200 stall, I'd say something 2800-3200 is a good range. Especially with the cams you want to run.

And yes, every thirdgen Fbody should have subframe connectors, nomatter how much the power output. It just makes them alot more solid.

One question though, why dual TBI's?? Any particular reason? Or is it to be different.

dual tbi's why???? i did for a few reason's.
1. i got told by uncle you couldn't fuel inect a 400sbc.
2. he said if i coud efi a 400sbc i couldn't beat his 406 with 4.56 gear's.
3. i got told that tbi and performance don't go together.
so fare i've prooved all 3 thing's wrong. if your gonna do it make it fun make it different.
I think i'm going to go with a 292*cam with 575 lift. that sound good.

it was set a stock shift piont's so it would:
1st to 2nd at 4,300rpm's at 27 mph,2nd to 3rd at 4,100 at 50mph
then it would run in 3rd till 5,700rpm's at 107.3166mph at finish line. but around 93mph at 4,800 rpm's it would fade fast. so just a few feet before the 3/4 piont of the 1/4 mile it was all out of steem, and it sat and reved to the finish line.
so i assum it the cam. tom lazar who raced the super stock amx's ran it a few times and he said it runing out of cam. i was told by previouse owner it was a 292* cam but tom thought it more like a 288* cam but he it could be a 292* but he is 80% sure it's a 288*,and only 20% sure it could be a 292*.
so you think a 292*cam with 575 lift work for this and lift shift piont some or shall go with the 318*675lift cam???
if i do a stall converter it would be a 2,00rpm stall.
i don't want a 2,800--3,200rpm's stall i think thats to high for a street car. so a 292*cam with 575 lift,with a 2,200 rpm stall will do me fine.??????????

Honestly I think a 2200rpm stall is tiny for that cam. I wouldn't even put a stall that little in my car ( 210/220 duraiton at .050).

I think a 2800 stall could be very streetable, theres some nice converters out there these days.

So it was running out of breath at 4800rpm with a .288 duration cam? If it was, I'm betting its the intakes fault. That cam should rev alot higher than that, with proper intake/heads/exhaust.

intake is all good 2500-6500.
exhaust; headres with purple hornies bolted to them.
now the heads are stock 400 head's. so there is prolly the power lose.
it's geting dart2 head's now,with the 292*575lift cam.
so with the stock converter should do fine.

it's got p295/50d-15 hoosier,with 4.11 posi rear end.
so a 2500 rpm stall do fine???????????????
or leave the stock one ?????????
traction bar's???????????/
and hope for the best???????????

i'm sorry if i seem all wierded out here but i got a lot of money in this car all ready.
i don't want to get to the line and hit the gas and watch $400.00 worth of tire go up in smoke and my car go no where fast. like what has happened to my cousins monty carlo.
cuase then i'll have an awsome engine tranny and rear end. in a cool looking car that is good for nothing then to just look at like a huge modle.
