91 camaro roller cam in 92 truck

i am going to put a roller cam setup from a 1991 camaro in a 1992 chevy truck with a 350. i belive that this setup is from a 305. i know i am going to have some problems but the engine it is going in is a new crate motor, and mud got in it and i believe it messed up the cam so i am not worried. i would just like some advise.

The '92 truck block should have the "bosses" used to mount the valley lifter retainer, you'll have to drill and tap, usually.
Check the height of the lifter bores, they should be the same, but if taller, you might have to have them machined.
Same goes for the cam retainer plate behind the cam sprocket. Try your cam and cam sprocket on and check for clearance between the sprocket and the block.
You'll need the self centering rocker arms as well off the '91.

Re: 91 camaro roller cam in 92 truck

what is the function of the truck?

I have a 1978 chevy to which I dropped a 1991 caprice police 350 in... all I can say is it is bad...... even for a cop motor the power is in the wrong area... hit like 2500rpm's and the truck starts to pull... however not alot of torque so when doing city driving I have to floor the truck everywhere....

just make sure that the cam is gonna give ya what ya need.... as mine didnt..
so now looking to do vortec heads, edelbrok performer intake, comp cams xtreme 4x4 roller cam......

p.s. my caprice stats were...
195hp/295lb-ft torque
with
tbi
cast heads
manifolds
single exhaust

now I have
1989 camaro z-28 dual plane intake
holley truck avenger 670cfm
cast heads
full tube headers
true dual exhaust
dunno if I hurt or gave more power...

maybe having 7" lift front, 10" rear, 40" hawgs and 4.56's may have something to do with that...

Adding to what 90rocz said, roller cams also use different timing chain sets than flat tappet cams. Other than that, he covered it.

Do NOT retard the cam. Shove it in there "straight up." Retarding the cam generally sacrifices low end torque for high end power.

I don't. Soak 'em in oil overnight and you know what you get? Lifters that are oily on the outside. It doesn't get inside. They pump up instantly the first time oil pressure comes up.
