88 Vette In 88 Camaro

HEY GUYS , I'm planning on buying an 88 vette for the engine and trans, (I figure an Iroc has this set up) and it would go in(fairly easy ) in a plain jane 88 camaro(w/ 2.8) what all should i consider to do the swap, I have both whole cars, also, is fuel pressure an issue from multiport 2.8 to 5.7 tpi??...thanx Ryan

I'm guessing the Vette is not repairable?

The accessory drives will not fit the F body. You'll need the serpentine belt parts (whatever year the motor is, if it is a reverse rotation water pump, then get the serpentine F-body parts), accessory brackets, etc for the Camaro.

I think the 2.8 has a fuel pump that moves far less fuel (volume) than the V8 cars and a fuel pump change is also a good idea.

I'm not sure on the fuel lines, as far as size. That would be my only other concern.

I'm sure I've missed something and hopefully someone will bring it up.

Oh...one more thing and it may be important. The Vette uses a different rear transmission mount that uses a "bracket" instead of a crossmember mount. I don't remember if you can change them from one to the other. If not, you will still need a transmission (if it's an auto). Meaning, don't pay too much for a car to just get the motor.

If it is a 6 speed, then it's a ZF gearbox and not a T56 and will require a lot of work in the transmission tunnel to get it to fit. It is not the "drop in" swap that a T56 is.

There is a company (have to find the link) that sells TPI motors (removed from wrecked cars, most were started before being pulled) for like $700, and you'll either need a transmission for an F-body or to adapt the rear mount on that one (it is a totally different mounting arrangement), you may be ahead to buy something that was pulled running (3 years, the motor may need a rebuild) and a correct transmission. I'd probably avoid the Vette. Just my thoughts.

I was trying to remember that myself. As I remember the crossmember mount in built into the case and you'd have to do a case swap. It has been a while since I've been under one, but I'm quite sure thath the case.
