I have t tops with 0 issues. They have not leaked when I've washed the car or the 2 times I've been caught in rain on accident.
My first camaro was a '91 RS with t-tops and I never had a bit of problem with them. I absolutly loved them. If the temperature was above 60° and it wasn't raining, those tops were off.
I had some hard top 3rd gens....All of them had ripped the metal above the rear of the side windows, all of them needed hinge kits and hinge pins, even with subframes I busted the windshield out of one of em.....
I have never seen a t-top 3rd gen that didn't leak....One reason I veared away from 3rd gens....

4th gens leak too. At least the convertibles do.
The 350/T-top 3rd gen issue is an odd one. Many people asked about getting T-tops when ordering the cars new but were told you couldn't get them. Even in the years that they were available.

Was that with a G-tech? Just curious how you measured it. When my car had the l98 A G-Tech measured 0-60 IN 6.1, 1/4 IN 14.1 @ 101MPH. I would like to believe that but since the car had 180,000 I figured it must be wrong.
yes it was possible, the ones running around today are only specially ordered that way. few select dealers did do this. gm however does not recognize them as their own cars and never covered it under warranty.
hate to say it but i love it, the car doesn't leak, definately rattles a bit more and yes i see the issues with the doors but the car has 140k miles on it. reset everything and i'm sure it's fine when taken care of. you have to consider it's a hole in the roof and a cheap car. you can't expect perfection but i've been thoroughly impressed. way to expensive though on the maintance. $700 a t-top from gm and $200 in seals to make it seal right. just crazy but so is life.
several that i know who are original 305 z28 t-top owners have them because they were turned away from getting t-tops with the 350 and they had to have t-tops. every person i've spoken with that worked on the cars during those years also backs up the story that there weren't any 350 t-top cars that left the factory... but with life, anything is possible.
My t-tops leaked.. there was a minor door hinge problem on the driver side.. but think about it. A 22-year old car, HUGE, HEAVY doors, and t-tops, and the driver door hardly sagged. But other wise, the t-tops were a Godsend. No alignment problems.
I use my T-tops all the time. I like the way it feels blowing my mullet around. I have had 6 different IROCS and I only had one that ever leaked during rain. I guess I'm lucky cause I always hear complaints about leaking. The one thing I do get is when I'm washing the doors some water drips inside the glass. Not much. But I spray the glass with lots of pressure. I would think replacing the T-top rubber every 15 years would eliminate it.
I spoke with a local sunroof installation shop and they said they did a lot of T-tops back in the 80's. They said they could still do it for about $1500. So if you really want to do it ask around or look in the phonebook.
