87 brakes
87 brakes
got in an accident recently. destroyed my brakes. replaced pads and rotors. discovered calipers were shot - replaced and bled lines. brake pedal goes to floor easily with no resistance and takes forever to stop. rear drum brakes work fine. told it was a booster problem or master cylinder problem - replaced both, bled system. still same problem. when car is turned on and pedal pressed to the floor parking brake light comes on. any ideas???
Re: 87 brakes
So you've basically replaced nearly every brake system component short of the lines and the rear drum setup?
1. Make sure the rear drums are adjusted properly.
2. Inspect the entire system thoroughly for hydraulic leaks.
3. Verify that you have the proper type of fluid, and that it's filled and completely bled. How are you bleeding it?
4. Verify all parts are correct. An incorrect master cylinder would cause this problem. A booster issue will not.
5. If you don't find anything wrong, take it to someone who knows what they're doing.
