87 305 carb
are they good? its just giving me problems right now its a rochester electronic quadrajet its making my car bog down a lot when i take off ive adjusted it a few times and i cant seem to get it to run quite right and i think some of the electronics are messed up going to the carburetor so thats why i would just like to go to a non electronic carb
these carbs are good, but I have the same prob. Change the Misture control solenoid. You will be surprised how much this will wake up that motor. This is what I am planning.
Our QJet sucks too. It's freshly rebuilt by us too. We do have some ignitions problems to fix first though. Once we fix those, where can we get a new MCS?
BTW: We're running full rich with no timing advance. *&$#^%@ computer controlled crap! New HEI module SHOULD fix it.

you can get a new MCS from any parts place. They are expensive little devils, anywhere from 100-130 bucks. I might be able to get it at cost, but I doubt it. I have heard that these will wake up a motor. I am also running very rich, slight advance in timing to compensate for crappy california fuel and this car just pings like crazy. Hope it all works out man!

Before you spend good money on a MCS (they do go bad a lot), check the EGR valve. After 15+ years, they tend to get dirty, or the spring weakens. You can check for a weak spring by removing the vacuum line and plugging. Drive the car, and if the problem clears, BINGO! If not, remove the valve and check for proper seating. It's a common problem that most people don't think about. Good Luck!
