86 and 87 Engine Compartments
On the TPI cars they're exactly the same except that the 87 uses a small-cap distributer with a divorced coil and the 86 uses the large-cap distributer with the integrated coil. This would be the case on the carbed cars too. The wiring harness is slightly different to accomodate this, but it uses all the same wires and they're the same color as well.
Another difference is that the TPI cars had a single electric fan in 86, and dual fans in 87. This would also necessitate minor changes in the wiring harness. Using an 87 harness with 1 fan is a no-brainer, but if you want 2 fans with the 86 harness, it'll take some work.

WTF???? I must of been drunk or something when writing this. Thanks Jim for that info. I was reading up on the 87 who did the LS1 coonversion, so I was curious. Thanks again
