curses. i had to leave my car at school cause it dident want to start, when i turn the key, nothing, not even one crank. battery is fine. me and my brother think it might be a loose connection on the starter because it starts sometimes but not all the times. anyone have this problem? im pushing it into the school mechanics shop tommorow, what should i look for? thanks.

 

Do you get juice to the electronics? Lights work, gauges, radio, etc.? If you have power, I'm sure the starter could be bad/have a flat spot.

I will also recommend checking your Reverse/Neutral safety switch if you have the auto trans. My switch went bad and when I replaced it, it didn't seat tightly in the mount so that the trans didn't "know" it was in P or N to allow the starter to crank. It appeared as an intermittent starting problem.

 

A way to test for this is to make a U out of a small piece of a large paper clip and use it to jump the connector terminals (use tape to insulate). If it starts then, neutral/safety switch is the problem. I did this once in the parking lot at work when my old 89 Formula wouldn't start to get me home.

Some manual cars also have a switch on the clutch pedal.
