84 Trans Am Headers

Will long tube headers off of a mid eighties monte carlo fit on my 1984 Trans am with a 350 Crate motor? If you have any any advice on which headers I should get that would be great.

Thanks

Re: 84 Trans Am Headers

I doubt that they will fit: You will probably have interference at the firewall and also at the frame rails. You'll definitely have troubles down where the subframe pinches inwards at the footbox.

If you want really really good headers, buy the Hooker long tubes for the third gen, then go see Steve Spohn at www.spohn.net for a Hooker longtube specific transmission crossmember.

Otherwise just buy yourself the $300 set of Edelbrock TES headers P/N 6872, a Hooker cat-back for the third-gen, a piece of three-inch exhaust pipe, and a new catco three-inch slip fit catylitic converter. I use this very exhaust and it worked fine on my minirammed 385.
