8.8 mm wires
8.8 mm wires
i have an 88 iroc 305 (mods in sig.) would i benefit from 8.8 mm spark plug wires or would that be overkill. i have to get new ones because i cooked my last set on my headers. im sure some of you guys have run into the same problem. i was thinking of getting the looms that run on top of the valve covers. any other suggestions?
You don't need them, but if you have to get new wires anyway you might as well get the good ones.
If you want my advice, get the cut-to-length kind with 90* ends and run them under the headers and up the back of the heads....it keeps them from burning and it looks VERY clean.

im want to pick up the loom kit that runs the wires above the valve covers in this link http://store.summitracing.com/partde...=MFY%2D5035611 it says fits all 7-8mm wires. has anyone ever run this kit with 8.8mm? i tried calling summits techline but they are closed on saturdays and im trying to get this asap because my car is running like crap!! thanks for all the help guys!
Fancy plugs and fancy plug wires will not make any more power than a good set of regular plugs and wires. I've talked to several engine builders and they all said this. Just get a quality plug wire that won't fall apart and you'll be fine. If you're worried about heat, .8mm of silicone isn't going to make that much difference. It'll still burn if it touches a header. You'd be better off getting some sort of heat resistant sheathing.
Bottom line, its your money spend it how you choose.
