Re: 700r4 shifting high

Clutches are probably gone, burn to cinders. if it sticks in first and shifts at high rpm under light throttle and the TV cable is/was set then it sounds like it's time for a rebuild.

Re: 700r4 shifting high

yeah it seems fine at first until you expect it to shift and it doesnt until around 4k+ it shifts firm(enough to chirp with 275/60/15 Dr's) in 2nd and feels like the converter is stalling instead of dragging the car down like it normally would if you were holding it in 2nd let off the gas and tap it again...thanks gixxer92 once again!

p.s. this is the 3rd tranny the car has had first replacement was B&M then that was "built" by a local shop because it burned up...tranny doesnt have many miles since rebuild under 7k (i know the previous onwer)

Re: 700r4 shifting high

Just keep in mind it could be other things, but the two times that I've had it happen to me it was burnt clutches and a loss of second gear (stall feeling).

Re: 700r4 shifting high

fluid doesnt look or smell funny ive burned up trannys before in my 95z...pulled the govenor out...the shaft that goes into the transmission was pitted alittle...im not sure how it works but the cylinder in the middle of it moved some what freely when i closed the 2 arms??? so i cleaned it up anyways no improvment....from what i remember this all started when i manually shifted kind of high by accident while car driving through a parking lot

side note...i can get into 3rd but i have do 70mph or so...not sure about overdrive
