58mm tpis throttle body

is a 58mm tpis throttle body a good one? I never really seen any one talking about them. does anyone have one of them? and is $200 a good price for 1?
thanks

Your money is better spent elsewhere unless youre pulling in enough air to necessitate the extra throttle area. $200 is a very good price, though.

If you have forced induction and are running big,BIG ponies then 58mm is ok,but under normal to slightly modified intake systems you will not need that big of TB,52mm is plenty big,and you won't have to modifiy your Plenum for it to work. 58mm would be like stuffing ten pound of sh....,well you get the idea, save your money for other mods.

well i am buying the holley stealth ram and they sell 58mm TB with them, so i figured a 58 would be good, they sell them for like $350, so if i could get a TPIS 58mm for $200 i figured i should.

If they come with a 58mm why do you want to buy a differant one? I'm not sure what you mean here,do they come with 58mm ,or do they recommend 58mm.,also you did not say you were changeing your intake. On a stock or even modified in take 52mm's are plenty big enough,as for the rams use what ever is recommened.

well i am just buying the smaller package they sell which is the upper and lower intake and the fuel rails, if you buy the complete package it comes with the throttle body, and some other thing, but its alot more expensive.
you can check it out on www.thunderracing.com if your interested in it.

I don't see any package that included a Holley 58mm throttlebody. Just so you know, those usually go for around $500 bones. I don't see why the TPIS wouldn't work on this stealth ram though. Only complete package I can think of is the one with the computer and all the sensors plus the calibration software which is like $2000+.

unless you are going to have a blower, turbo, or very large cube motor turning lots o RPM, don't go past 52mm. i still have my stock one on my HSR and run 12.13 @ 112. GM RAMJET 502 motor has a stock 48mm TB and pulls 500hp. visit www.stealthram.com to see what others use.

i wouldn't recommend it. i have a accel 58 which works very well for my setup but i have alot of power with a very good efficiency rate. if i were to have used the tb on anything remotely close to my mild 350 it would have been overkill and caused more harm then good.

if you are getting a deal you might consider picking it up for a rainy day, but beyond that you have to decide if it's right for you. it is a tpis though so i would pass on that part alone....

A friend of mine went about a tenth slower with the Accel 58mm TB stuck onto a stock engine. I went faster when I had the Superram intake system and the headers with the TB. Bottom line is that it all has to match. Big TB with stock intakes is worthless.

well i am getting the holley stealth ram and 200cc/64cc heads, so a 58 should match good. i bought the TB for $170, i figure if i don't like it i can probably make my money back if i sell it.

Thumbs down

I wouldn't run anything larger than a 52mm on a near stock set-up...even with the HSR. 58mm is for larger applications that flow LOTS of air.

Are you serious? TPIS makes probably the best 58mm TB available. Highest quality, best machining, no slack in the shaft, etc, etc.

Measure other brands some day...see if you really get 58mm out of them. I believe the Edelbrock 58s are really 56s or so...same with Accell, I believe.

You love to talk s*** about TPIS, don't you?

You ran that on a 150 shot though. I don't see how 100.2mph N/A with your mods should do anything but strengthen the argument for getting a bigger throttle body.

well i bought the throttle body so I gotta use it now, i didn't want to get a 52mm and then end up getting a 58 later.
I want my motor to get around 500hp NA
so i was thinking the 58mm would be good.
and the 200cc heads should match good, cause I mentioned using 215cc in another post and everyone told me they are way too big. also they sell the stealth ram with a 58mm so I think thats what they would want you to use. I have nothing wrong with TPIS , I would of rather had the holley throttle body but I saved $200 by getting the TPIS.

You got a long way to go for a 500 hp NA motor. Good luck though.
