hey i was wonder if anyone knows if a 5 speed trans from a 1979 camaro would fit in an 82' third gen. because i might be able to pick up a parts car with it so i was wondering if it would be worth it?

Manual 79's came with 4 speeds. If it's a Z28, it would be a Borg Warner Super T-10, same basic tranny as the 82's 4-speed for the Z28's, just different ratio's.

 

i dont have any facts or anything like that but i thought the 79 camaros came with the 4 speed. atleast mine did. ive had a bunch of 78-81 camaros but most of them were autos except the one with a 4 speed which was supposed to be fairly rare. but according to the most recent pontiac high performance mag the first year 3rd gen 1982 fbods came with the borg warner super t10 4 speed and im assuming its not a hydraulic clutch yet so you may be able to follow their pattern for the install. maybe this helps, maybe not?

it might with some work . 2gen f-body didn't have a tork arm like 82's did . if it's a super t-10 we can just swap the rear tail section from the 82 to the 79 and it will be fine
