4th gen seats in our cars, one quick question
Hey guys, well, are the connectors on 3rd and 4th gen seats the same? or will they require the cutting of the wires to adapt them to the old harness??? Just curious, I have never been under to check , but my seats are on the way and I wanted to know in advance.

Will, they are completely different connections. Sometime maybe I can show you how I wired my 4th gen seats in my RS. There are only two wires, one hot, and one ground. If installing in a car that did not previously have power seats (like mine), all you have to do is run one 12V constant wire to the seat, and then run the ground wire to one of the bolts that holds the seat down. Just sandwhich the wire between the bolt and the seat and tuck out of the way. Simple stuff.
I pulled the power from the fuse box. If I remember correctly I used the hazard lights fuse. That's a constant 12v. I put a inline fuse in between the seats and the fuse box just for added saftey. Its not really required, but I had the parts so I did it. All in all it took about 10 minutes to wire everything up and hide the wires.

I might go to the junkyard and get the other end of the connector from a wrecked car and see if I can splice the wires to make things a little easier....... sound good?

Going to the junkyard really isnt neccesary, but if you feel better about it then by all mean do so. If you have wire, butt conectors and a pair of wire cutters/pliers, it should only take about 15 minutes tops.
Or you can go to radio shack and get a 2 position male and female connector and put one on the seat and wire the other to the car.
I just hard wired the wires in my brothers car when I swapped seats with him. I took his car connector so I could swap it easier.

Thats actually a rather good idea if you want seperate connections for the car and for the seat. Anything you find in the jukyard is going to be at least 10 years old, and plastic gets very brittle as it ages. New connectors from radioshack probobly only cost 2-3 bucks.
