4th gen dash in 3rd gen car?
Hey guys, I'm heavily contemplating a 3rd gen project this winter, I miss my 88 and I love the look of a clean IROC. However, I **HATE** 3rd gen interiors. I have seen a few guys swap the dash, console, and seats out of a 4th gen into a 3rd gen. I know the seats are a direct bolt in, but what about the dash and the console? Could you guys post some pictures? Oh, and what do you do about the fugly door panels?

There Is An 89 Iroc On E-bay Right Now That I Just Read About He Did The Whole Swap It Looks Like Other Than The Time Consumption The Door Panels Didn't Match Up Perfectly Otherwise It Looks Like A Real Sweet Deal.

I know I would go south and get one though. I have alot of family in Kentucky and Tennessee, they're a dime a dozen around there.

Anyone know which 4th gen center console may be the cleanest looking fit on a 3rd gen Camaro? Thing is I'm trying to keep the dash and wondering if it would just look goofy I remember seeing it done before but don't recall if they came together well.

I did this swap a few years ago and I ended up ripping it backout a few monthes later because it just didnt look like it belonged in there. The lines of the body didnt match the lines of the dash and I just put the stock dash setup back in but with the addtion of a custom made Auto Meter gauge cluster. It looks so much better now. There is going to be a lot of work to get any 4th gen dash setup into a 3rd gen. One of the heardest most time consuming parts was getting the 4th gen gauge cluster to work correctly. Just make sure you are 100% capable of doing this mod before you start. Good luck.
here is a link to my wite up with pics of my dash swap. http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/bo...th#post1222384

i've done it on my car. The dash itself bolts right up. You will have to modify the dash pad to fit the contour of the 3rd gen wind shield. Also you need to either graph the bottom of the 4th gen a-pillers to the top of the 3rd gen's or make a piece out of fiberglass or other material to cover up the gap. You dont need to swap the door panels, but there will be a gap from the side of the dash to where the 3rd gen panels are (where the 3rd gen dash hangs over). I am using autometer guages in place of where the 4th gen cluster is so i didnt need to mess with that wiring, also im not running heat or a/c in my car since its a nice weather only car, but they arent that difficult to mate to each other. For center consoles, the 97-02 trans am or 00-02 camaro ones. They have 2 cup holders in them. You will need to trim the bottom of the console to fit the contour of the 3rd gen trans tunnel, which can be a PITA. If you just do the console and radio pod out of a 3rd gen t/a fits perfect.
