4th gen with 3rd gen wheels...Rims???
Just like my topic says. I have a spare set of rear 91 z28 16x8 rims. I just need to know if and/or how I can accomplish this? Are spacers needed? Will bolt right up? What is the backspacing on a rear (front/back are diff. offsets) set of 91 z28 16x8 rim and on a 96z28 16x8? Sorry for the dumb ? I just want to be able to switch sticky tires b/t my 91rs and my 96z to cut down on cost. I am not too proficient when it comes to wheels/backspacing.

If you wanted to do that, you would need to do vice versa of your plan. You can put 4th gen wheels on your car with spacers but I am pretty sure that you can't put 3rd gen wheels on a 4th gen. I have the equivalent of 4th gen wheels on my car.
We have similar cars btw

4th gen wheels on 3rd gen require spaces so they are "pushed out" so they look more flush
If you put 3rd gen wheels on a 4th gen, they would stick out of the wheel well, and might not look good at all

Ok, that the end of that. I guess that I will have to get a spare set of wheels and DR for the 96z and a pair of DR for the 91rs. I was hoping I could just swap the one set I already have on to the 96z. Oh well no said it was a cheap hobby.

heh, i didnt think it would work either... but i sold a friend a set of earlyZ28/laterRS 5 spoke rims... (the 15x7 or 7.5 ones i forget the width, but they're narrower slightly)
with his slicks on them, they fit just fine at the dragstrip. he has a 94 z28.

oh, and FYI, i also have a 4thgen rear in my 3rdgen, and i currently have 3rdgen stock rims... and yes, they still fit in the wheel well. bearly, but they're in there.
unless i point it out, noone seems to notice except diehard 3rdgen people.

I had the stock 3rd gen wheels with 245/50/16 tires on them on the 4th gen rear and they got chewed up by the fenders. But my car was really low too. Stock height shouldn't have that problem.
