Did it on my 91 RS, and my 88 GTA. 40 series single outlet. Not dual exhaust, but the dual on our cars is fake anyways, so who cares...

Why couldn't you hook a 40 series up to your car?

I like the 40 series a million times more than the 80 series crossflow. I suggest doing a custom cat back locating the 40 series in place of the cat-converter and running a single outlet over the axle and out OR keep the cat-converter and ditch the dual out muffler. Instead place the 40 series behind the axle and run a single outlet. It will definately sound better.

40 series def. sounds much better than the 80's series. i put a 40 on my van and it sounds tons better than the camaro. Flowmaster does make a 40 series with single inlet dual outlet, i got mine off of ebay for 40 bucks brand new. The only draw big is the inlet is like 3 1/2" I think and it's hard to find a coupler that big. But yeah if you can make it fit, go for the 40.

You can buy the 40 series mufflers in lots of different sizes, just like practically every other muffler.

^ yup. which is why I questioned you by saying "Why couldn't you hook a 40 series up to your car?".

They make flowmaster mufflers in lots of different sizes, but the only 40 series with single inlet/dual outlet is one size. It's for big trucks... part #430402 w/ 3" Inlet Dual 2.5" Outlet. You could swing a 3" exhaust on a f-body, I just have 2 1/4" on my van and I couldn't find a coupler that big.

The flowmaster force 2 catback kit uses a 40 series I believe, which is the kit I have and comes with single 3" out, the hole system is 3" also.
