3rd gen HVAC Question
3rd gen HVAC Question
That other guy had a thread for 4th gen.. and people seemed to answer him quickly
I posted this on TGO, but I swear, nobody ever seems to reply with detailed descriptions over there, if a reply at all. But that guy got a great picture and everything.. so I figured some people may be more intelligent at this board.
Two vac lines, Not sure where they lead.
This one had another tip (you can see the hole) but I broke it off by accident. It had nothing plugged in it. It's a bigger vac line that goes to the blue/grey connector.. and the other side goes to the back of the Plenum. (I removed plenum.. that's why it's not connected in that picture)

For this one though.. It has a very small line... It has a tip (nipple people seem to be calling them) broken off (connected in the picture) but I don't know where the tip used to go. It's a black tip, same size as the tiny vac line. Someone said it was for the HVAC, but I'm not so sure, unless it recently broke off.. My HVAC would never come out of defrost, I thought it was because a line was crimped behind the controls, so I took it out, pulled it straight, with everything attached, and everything worked.. I put it back in, tried it again, and it still worked. Turned off the car, and tried it in the morning, and it didn't work, again. Not sure if this vac line was connected at any time during any of this.. but maybe it was, and broke off..?

These two vac lines do not seem to go together at all. There doesn't appear to be any other vacuum lines that are not connected, either.
And there's this connector, near the distributor, on the driver's side. Black/pink wire coming out of it. No idea where it goes.

Re: 3rd gen HVAC Question
I have a 87 w/305 TPI and I went and looked at mine and in the first picture the main vac line goes to the cruise control and the small line that comes off of it goes into a wire harness and goes through the fire wall and from there I can't give any help. The second picture I don't have a clue. The third picture, I have the same plug on mine and it is hook to nothing. Everything on mine works so it must be just something extra. I hope that the little info that I gave you will help.
