383 question
383 question
Hey guys I was just pondering, if I wanted to keep nearly the stock powerband, under 5000rpm, but become a 383 would a setup like this be alright for a 1990 vette l98?
-AFR 180cc aluminum heads maybe some port work if I could increase flow without loss of velocity...
-XE grind or custom grind cam 206-212/210-215 with .55"ish lift
-KB hypereutectic(sp) pistons, eagle or scat I beam rods and scat 9000 crank....
-longtube headers
-52mm throttle body
-aftermarket induction system
-and the trivial part, a ported plenum with tpis large tube runners and an accel base...
Now as far as my theory behind keeping the tpi setup my power band is not going to exceed 5000 and I wouldnt mind 4500 and I moved one step up everywhere else so I didnt think it would be necissary to go to an aftermarket intake since there would be a loss of low end and the intake would want to support a power band higher than 4500-5000. Now what im wondering is if the tpi setup I described would handle 4500rpm atleast in a 383 like above and make adiquate mid range to last to 4500-5000... please no comments about improving top end Ive had an lt1 and i never used its top end as much as the low mid. This is also on a mild budget. Would be strictly a street motor aside from occasional autocross...
