Hello!
Is it good/bad idea to install 383 engine from 68` Dodge Charger to 83` Firebird???
Are there problems with compatibility and parts? Tranny is TH-350. Any ideas??? I heard it problem getting parts for this engine and the i should still choose chevy engine.

Thanks!!!

Chrysler 383 has good bore to stroke ratioo, but that's about all it has going for it. Nothing is compatible for your vehicle. There are Chrysler to chev tranny adapters available, but mounts, headsers, and a ton of other issues will drive you to the pooer house.

Might I suggest another 383: a Chevy 350 stroked to 383 with a readily available 3.75" crank. Parts are off the shelf and in the long run you will spend much less, even if you get the Chrysler 383 for free.

Anything is possible with enough time and money, but you'll be using excessive amounts of both. Even if you got the motor for free, the swap would cost more than building a GM motor to put in. Not to mention the headaches. They're free.

Plus... a stock 383 is nothing special. A decent 350 could easily surpass the stock 383.
