Here's the dilly... i am preparing to change the oil in the 355 that i had recently aquired, and i'm trying to figure out what oil to put in it since winter is coming up, and i don't have any notes as to what was in it before. The only thing that i do know is that the engine itself only has about 100 miles on it so far. and i'm fixing the gaskets and seals on the oil pan because its leaking out like crazy while the engine is running.

Can anyone give me advise on this please!

 

I would put either 10w 30 or 10w 40 in it, havoline or valvoline will work, and run it until you get about 1000 miles on it. Then if you can afford it, i would switch to a full synthetic like valvoline. That is what i did...

 

Talk to the builder. In any case, LPE had me put 30W straight oil in it for 1000 miles then I switched to synthetic. For the winter, 0W30 Mobil 1 or if you can get it, 0W40 Mobil1
