350 TPI MPG A4 & pricing read this.
What kind of milage does a 5.7 TPI in a 87 IROC w/ A4 get. What axle ratios were avalible? Do ya'll think either one of these is a good deal??
1. 87 IROC Camaro , very fast, too many extras to list, $2,850.
2. 87 Camaro, 4barrel, auto. 78K, good cond,

Choice #1.
The Carb'd car didn't come from the factory like that so that means it has had some aftermarket work.
In 87 you could expect about 20+ mpg highwayon the tpi car. The axle ratios avaliable were probably 2.73, 3.23, or 3.42 with the 350 TPI. I don't remember exactly.

There were 4b carbs in 87 Camaros, right? He wants 3K for choice "2". I haven't called "1" yet, but I hope it has 3.23
.
I wanted a 93 Z, but I can't afford it right now since I'm in HS and have about $3400 to work wit(summer job). Do you think a 87 Iroc with moderate miles would suffice?

Nothing's a deal until you see it in person. I've seen LG4 cars advertised as "very fast" and you have absolutely no idea what the milage & condition is.
The 2nd one doesn't even have a price, so who the hell knows whether it's a good deal. But, it's an LG4 car, so I wouldn't take it unless I had a crate motor ready to go in.
Anyway, if you go to http://iroc.fbody.com/camdata.html you can see all the axle ratios that were available with various engine/trans combos on all IROCs.

My best tank was just a hair over 22mpg going from Detroit to Chicago. All speed limit cruising (65-70mph) except for one blast up to 85ish behind a Porsche and some sitting in traffic near Gary, Indiana. This was with the o2 sensor ground disconnected (don't ask, long story), and i think my car runs rich anyway. city is usually mid to high teens.
Edit: I forgot to add that I have a Trans Am GTA with 350 TPI and 3.27 rear gear. Windows were down the whole way too.

On a trip from Atlanta to Amelia Island Fla. I recorded 25.4 mpg cruising 65-75 mph. After installing the TPIS fastpak, MSD ignition sys. and a ramair kit I recorded 27.1 at 60-65 mph on a trip to Birmingham, Ala. I daily get about 22 combined hwy/city going to work. I fill up once a week drive to work 30 mi one way and still have gas for a short trip around town. I have a friend with an 89 GTA and an 86 'vette with the same kind of results. On a recent trip he got 30 in the 'vette.
